SYNOPSIS:
The Gaza Strip, 2003. Mahmud (11) is just like every other Palestinian kid. He goes to school, helps his mother Farah (29) who wants for him a different life, plays “Israeli vs. Palestinians” with his friends, but his real passion is surfing. His world is a world at war. Daily bombings and shootings have created martyrs out of children. It is a life of constant fear and danger, but this is the only life he has ever known. However, everything changes when he meets Dan (30), a former surfing champion who faced a life-threatening accident while surfing which suddenly ended his career and sent him in deep depression. Dan is in Gaza mourning the loss of his sister, tragically killed in a bombing while volunteering with ‘Doctors Without Borders’. Dan feels trapped in the Gaza Strip and the use of Tramadol, a highly addictive painkiller drug makes it impossible for him to leave. By meeting Mahmud and deciding to teach him how to surf and to pursue his dreams, Dan will also find the strength to get back up on his feet. However, there’s a catch. Mahmud’s lessons will be shared with his perceived lifelong enemy, an Israeli boy named Alon (11)...
